Today, with fires raging all over the county, the sky looks different and the air smells and tastes of ash. My eyes are burning as I write this.
In my head, I keep thinking, "Places affecting people. Places affecting people." The places where we live affect the stories that we have. Your history is one part you (your personality, your self and family) and one part your place, your environment.
Today our histories all revolve around this event -- Wildfires blaze across California -- because school is cancelled. Maybe your family has been evacuated. Maybe you were forced to choose some of your things to pack, just in case your family has to leave. My sister is upstairs right now backing up her digital photography "just in case."
How are you affected by the fires? Are you safe? Feel free to comment back (especially Michael and Angela, because I think you both live close to the Harris Fire) -- I'd like to hear from you.
Take care & be safe.
Miss K
p.s. We do not have school tomorrow (Tuesday) -- keep checking the HTHCV website for further updates.

Hey Kay,
Well right now they told us in eastlake woods and such that we're on voluntary evacutaion because of the San Ysidro fire. Outside it looks like it's on the sepia color of my digital camera, and even inside my house, it's getting hard to breathe. We're not leaving yet, but on the news and radio they said that police were coming once it gets worse here. When I was getting ready for school this morning, the sun looked more red-orage than bright like normal and the smoke was far. It's amazing, and scary, how these things can happen this fast.
Love, Joelle [:
Hey kay hope u are ok. I've Been watchign tv all day and hearing all the bad things happening. Yesterday i went to la jolla to go shoping as i was walking i smelled and saw very small particles in the air. i remembered in oct 23 i was in a party suddenly the same thing happen. theres small whit/grey particles. i also heard that some kids in San Ysidro High started a fire of their own. the kids got expelled. So far im ok. i have problems breathing when nasty stuff is in the air i have to wear this stupid mouth cover thing. the whole day looked crappy and boring because the white skays not pretty whitee but nasty white like a thick cloud. I remeber the talk we had in class that places affecting people. This is a very scary thign to see. A lot of people lost their houss and personal belongings*. hope u are ok.
Aryeh....
Hey Kay!
It's Saturday already... I spent an interesting week 'cuz of this fire. LOL, the news story I was going to share in class was "Yeah, there's some fires somewhere." I was all ready on Monday, but Eden texted me asking if there was school. I checked the school website, and was all "...oh."
I remember thinking the sunrise was pretty that morning. And then I figured out why it looked the way it did, and in my mind it became an angry, bloated thing.
I ended up never leaving my house the entire time (we were waiting for it to become a voluntary evacuation). All this junk in the air has made me sick, but otherwise I haven't really been affected- the fire changed directions before it got near my house. Heh, me dad even refused to leave because he predicted where the fire would go. Sure enough, it went that way the next day (away and to the north a little).
So, yeah. All's good down here. Sorta.
...please where can I buy a unicorn?
Something to say?
